Cups
2013
stoneware clay, porclin slip of various colors, colored glaze
These ceramic pieces are an experiment on different ways of making a cup. The flower cup is meant to be held by the bottom edges and was inspired by Korean ear tea cups. The winged snake cup was inspired by Navjo basket designs. The snake on the handle is meant to represent a god who brings water. The cup and snake rests on a saucer with a cloud/water pattern. The 3-piece cup is meant to warm the user's hands. The user places their hands in the curved attachment, and the attachement reflects and keeps the heat in.
Vases and Tea Set
2013
stoneware clay, colored glazes
The vases are an experiment on how glazes drip depending on the curve of the object. The tea set was inspired by a Japanese oil lamp as it has interesting silhouette.
